EL PRIMER FESTIVAL DEL PERRO MEXICANO XOLOITZCUINTLE EN EL CENTRO HISTÓRICO, TIENE LUGAR EN 2026, GRACIAS AL PROYECTO PARA DECLARARLO COMO PATRIMONIO BIO-CULTURAL DE LA CIUDAD DE MÉXICO, PROMOVIDO POR EL CLUB CANÓFILO MEXICANO DEL XOLOITZCUINTE A.C., Y LA AUTORIDAD DEL CENTRO HISTÓRICO, LA PRIMERA ES UNA ORGANIZACIÓN CIVIL AUTO-ORGANIZADA, FUNDADA EN 1996, LA SIGUIENTE, ES UNA PLATAFORMA RECIENTE DEL GOBIERNO DE LA CIUDAD, QUE ENTRE OTRAS COSAS, IDENTIFICA Y APOYA, LAS TRADICIONES, SUJETOS Y SÍMBOLOS HISTÓRICOS DE TODAS LAS ÉPOCAS QUE HABITAN O TRANSITAN EN EL PRIMER CUADRO CAPITALINO. A ESTA LOABLE INICIATIVA, SE HA SUMADO LA SECRETARIA DE CULTURA LOCAL, ASÍ COMO EL MUSEO SOUMAYA, FUNDACIÓN CARLOS SLIM, CONJUNTANDO LAS VOCACIONES PUBLICAS Y PRIVADAS EN POS DE PERSEGUIR UN MISMO OBJETIVO COMÚN: FOMENTAR MAYOR RECONOCIMIENTO Y BIENESTAR DEL PERRO MEXICANO XOLOITZCUINTLE EN SU CONTEXTO SOCIAL, DEBIDO A LA AUSENCIA ACTUAL DE CERTIFICACIONES QUE LO PROTEJAN COMO UN BIEN CULTURAL E HISTÓRICO DE MÉXICO.
